Why Choose a RD

Why choose a Registered Dietitian?

When you receive nutritional services from Nutritious Path, LLC you are getting nutritional advice from the experts.  Registered Dietitians will be providing all nutritional services! Why is the significant? All Registered Dietitians are nutritionists, but not all nutritionists are Registered Dietitians!

Registered Dietitians are the food and nutrition experts who can provide evidence based nutritional counseling to help clients achieve their healthy weight and lifestyle goals!

Registered Dietitians have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree with training in dietetics and nutritional management from accredited colleges. Registered dietitians are required to complete accredited didactic and clinical experiences in their training program, pass a board examination to earn the “RD” credentials, and must maintain their credentials through continued professional development and training .

A Registered Dietitian has training in nutritional management of diabetes, kidney disease, heart healthy eating, weight management, sports performance, and much more. Registered dietitians help clients by reviewing current eating habits and nutritional health and creating customized nutritional plans for their individual clients lifestyles.

Anyone can call themselves a “nutritionist”.  The difference is the training and clinical experience. Some states have licensure laws protecting the public from just anyone calling their self a nutritionist and providing nutritional advice/ counseling, but not all. The public may seek nutritional advice from various websites or people who market their selves as “nutritionists” who may not be giving sound nutritional advice. Bogus nutritional information is typically offered in efforts to market a product or fad diet. Bogus nutrition plans and information can be inaccurate and ineffective for long term health and weight management, expensive, is typically “one size fits all”, not sustainable for the long term, and may even be harmful in some cases.

Proper nutritional counseling provided by a Registered Dietitian may help improve quality of life, reduce risks of chronic disease and even potentially reduce medications and medical costs. So choose a RD to help you reach and maintain your health and wellness goals!
